“Does a cable box remote change the volume on this soundbar system? We purchased a different brand and ran into that problem that when we fast forwarded or pressed rewind on the DVR or skip 30 sec either way, it changed the volume on our soundbar. :-(”

Yes the cable remote works as does the tv remote
