I have the same Frig and I just twist and pull out the old filter. Wipe down the little bit of water that drips out of the old filter and install the new one. Once you push it in and turn it until it locks in place, you will hear water rushing in it to fill it and that's it! The book may just recommend that action for some sort of safety reason...? I don't know I didn't read mind but ya. I hope this helps any one reading this post but I do like my frig, I like how Samsung has been innovative in the frig's features. As long as I get 8 years plus out of it I will be a happy. I have owned it a little over 1 year now, no problems thus far.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I replaced ours and I don't recall shutting any water supply off. I didn't read the instructions - just twisted the old filter to remove it, then inserted new filter and twisted into lock position.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. You do not need to turn off the water supply. It is a recommendation made to protect the manufacturers from potential lawsuits for any water supply reason.
