• I have a 500 Gig hard drive plugged in to mine and it works great for movies.1 button on remote brings up movie list and you go down the list to select movie.

• Yes it is. Most file types can be used too. One reason why I bought the Samsung over a cheaper version. Other ones do not play that many types of files

• Yes. I have used several external HDD's with this TV (250GB, 500GB, and 1TB). As long as the drive is formatted FAT or FAT32, it will work.
