A converter would be needed to power the TV in a country using the 240v system. The USA uses the NTSC and ATSC broadcasting format. Most, but not all, countries use the PAL. TVs purchased in the USA are not compatible with the PAL broadcasting system without a converter. The US standard frame rate is 30 frames per second (FPS), whereas the PAL standard is 25 FPS. ^Rosi
