• Yep, it works fine with just an antenna. Ours is hooked up to old-fashioned rabbit ears that sit right behind it. Great reception for over-the-air stations.

• I think it would but the reception and programming you'll get will depend on your area. The Geek guys who installed mine told me I'd be able to use an antenna but would probably get mostly foreign stations so I haven't tried one. I still have Dish Network.
