Great question! First, I'd like to provide this link (https://bit.ly/2NgsCHD) to the user manual. It has instructions on how to connect a drain hose if you wish to use one. Also, page 28 has instructions on how to empty the water tank if you do not have a drain hose installed. ^Jecca
