“Can I connect external speakers. We do not want Home theatre system, just want to add some type of external speakers that point forward. (Speakers on this unit are underneath the TV.) If external speakers are an option, how would they be connected?”

I have a pair of high quality Bose computer speakers connected to this TV through the headphone port. They sound great and the volume can be controlled with the remote.

You can use a sound bar that has the receiver built into the unit. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.There are two audio outputs on the TV: the analog (which are red and white and lower quality) and optical (higher quality). Simply connect the TV to the speaker system from those outputs. Make sure the speakers have the inputs before you buy the desired cable, though.
