“I'm trying to connect Logitech speakers to this tv using an RCA Y cable adaptor, but cannot get sound to come out of the speakers. I've changed the tv audio settings to "external speakers" but nothing works. Any idea what's wrong?”

I don't think that TV has an analog audio out. I does have a optical digital out. You would need to purchase a Digital to analog converter (DAC) and turn the sound mode from Dolby digital to PCM. A cheap sound bar with optical in should also work.
