The manual says sound output is optional. I just bought this TV and it does NOT have sound output.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This TV DOES have a digital TOSlink optical audio output. It does NOT have an analog headphone/speaker audio out jack.

The most common are RCA audio outputs which means that the tv will accept RCA jacks, the kind used commonly in audio. I think these are used to feed a micro audio signal from the tv to a receiver or external amp for 5.1 sound, that is two front speakers with a center channel and a sub woofer along with two rear channels. Most likely it'll also an out for a 3.5mm stereo jack which feeds a 3.1 speaker system that is two front speakers and a powered sub woofer. Obviously, going with an external amp or receiver are the more expensive options but they yield a wider spread of the sound similar what you hear in the theater. However, there are more than a few very high quality 3.1 speaker systems which have an external amp usually built into the sub woofer which also feeds the two front satellite speakers. These can provide powerful and satisfying results. A good sound bar system does the same thing as the 3.1. So,sure, smart tv's provide audio output. Hope this helps.
