“This model has good sound. It is 2.5" thick. I think the tvs that are 1" thick have speakers so small they can't perform. The best sound ever was from a set that was 3.5 inches thick. Has anyone else noticed this?”

I has decent sound quality—we use a sound bar to get a little more boost. But, even without the sound barn the sound is good quality. And for the price of the TV, no complaint.
