• You can hook up a standard DVD player to a 4K TV but I would recommend getting a Blu-ray 4K player

• Hi annieB! The AU8000 is compatible with external devices that support HDMI. This model does not feature composite (Yellow, White, Red) connections, which is the most common connection type for a DVD player. If your DVD player supports HDMI, you will be able to connect it to the TV. If your DVD player only supports a composite connection, you will need to upgrade to a BluRay device supporting HDMI. ^Tim
