Yes, you can browse internet but I was not able to download a certain app. I have a suscription to NHL.tv so I needed to download the App in order to see games on this TV. it turns out that app was incompatible. My other smart TV which has Roku was able to get the NHL app no problem. As for the Hotstar app I do not know. You're best bet is to get a Smart TV that has Roku.
