I have many Samsungs and Vizios, but this model is packed full of features and extremely intuitive! It has incredible picture and makes even my old ripped movies look crazy better (upscaling done to 4k quality using UHD Engine). The guide is very smart and universal and the Smart Hub is crazy better than it's older versions I've had! It even asked me to tell it what genres I prefer and what sports I prefer and favorite sports teams (to remind me when a game is on). It blends together all my subscriptions (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Vudu, over the air broadcasts, and even tons of other internet channels. I can watch something on Netflix and flip to the TV broadcast and latter flip immediately back to playing the Netflix show as if it never closed the program. All the while I first turned it on and it was speaking the setup to me I was picking my internet connection and interests and logging into my Samsung account, it had already found all my connections (including different sources like the TV USB & router media server), and channels and perfected everything so I didn't need to go through a bunch of stuff. I keep a USB of my ripped DVD collection plugged into the TV and so I know the TV plays my various formats (FLV, MPG4, AVI, etc) and it scales them flawlessly. I normally rip them with a smaller bit rate and resolution to save on space, but the TV makes them look WAY better than on any of my other devices. For $299 this is a crazy good product and has a crazy good computer in it. The speakers are very good (not amazing, but not tinny and flat). It has VESA pattern 200x200 and came with the normal length screws already in place (the manual says they are M6).

I have had this TV for a month, and initially I was skeptical with the picture quality. In a black background with a specific setting (dynamic, color tone cool) there would be this uneven clouding/flickering that was visible especially from an angle up close. I contacted Samsung directly and they said this is most likely normal, and getting it exchanged will not fix it. This was my first qualm. Second was the scarcity of the HDMI and USB ports, and finally, the lack of RCA analog outputs. I had an older DVD 5.1 home theater system that did not have an Optical IN, only analog ports. For all this reason I was leaning towards the LG equivalent of this TV; it had more HDMI/USB ports, and analog output so I could use the home theater. Unfortunately LG arrived with a cracked screen so I was never able to test it out. In the end I decided to return the LG (the build quality to me looked cheaper than Samsung's, and it was not as sleek and thin), and exchange the Samsung hoping the the issue I had was an isolated one. Everything worked out in the end. After the exchange I noticed the clouding/flickering was gone! Also, I found an Optical out/Analog in converter (relatively cheap), that I used to connect my DVD home theater setup. Subwoofer and speakers worked flawlessly! I should point out that it will convert the audio to a 2 channel, which is fine because you are now able to salvage the old system you have, which will in a way work like a soundbar with subwoofer. To conclude, if anyone wants to hook up their older home theater system, keep in mind this TV has an Optical OUT port, and if your home theater system does not have Optical IN, get a cheap optical to analog converter and enjoy the stereo sound. I am very pleased with this TV, and its quality and build.

I'm extremely shocked that I have to write a review about my Samsung Smart TV. I had just purchased this TV 2 months ago and the screen all of a sudden turned completely black as if it was shut off. I tried to turn the device back on and the red indicator button was blinking but, the TV still appeared to be off. I then attempted to unplug the tv and plugging it back in, several times, ranging from 10 minutes to a full day. Then, I attempted to resent the TV by holding down the power button for a few seconds. The red indicator/power light blinked continuously then stopped. Then, I tried transferring the plug into a different outlet thinking that it might have just been a different a low power source hence why it didn't turn on. Foolishly, I didn't buy an extended warranty because I believed all the rave about Samsung having the best TVs on market. I thought to myself "Hey I had lesser quality TVs that lasted 10 years, Samsung should last me long and be better". I tried calling Best' Buy's Geek Squad to see if there was a different method I could use to turn it on but, all they could do was give me the number to Samsung Support. Of course, I had no choice but to call Samsung. All the representative could do was start "troubleshooting" by telling me to do the same exact methods that I did prior to the call. He stated I understand that the TV isn't working properly but Samsung only has a limited warranty. He was more than happy to send a repair team over within the next 3 days but he reassured me that depending on the type of repair, I might need to pay out of pocket. All I can think about is how could a Smart TV by Samsung only last me 2 months. I am highly upset and disappointed.

Snagged it on sale the week after Black Friday. First off, I need to say that Best Buy is stepping up their game with customer service. I walked in, got my order, and was ready to go so fast I complimented the employees involved and chatted for a few minutes about how streamlined their service was. Do you want repeat customers, BB? Because that's how you get repeat customers. The TV itself is brilliant for what I paid for it ($300). Out of the box there are issues, which if you want a flawless setup you'll listen to this review. You need to download a firmware update via a computer and USB drive. Download said update from the Samsung website and extract the file to the flash drive. Make sure nothing else is on it. Plug it into the TV and back out of the "setup" the TV tries to get you to do. Just click through and select "do not connect to wifi." After that you'll be able to get to the settings where you can navigate to firmware update option. Select this and the TV will auto recognize the thumb drive. Install, then restart the TV. Boom, you can connect to wifi and set up as intended. The picture needed a little tweaking to minimize the soap opera effect caused by the higher refresh rate (which makes this TV good for gaming by default). Get an optimal picture setup from https://www.rtings.com/ Overall, after dealing with that, it's a great TV. Viewing angles are limited, so this is ideal for a bedroom or smaller den area. The main menu has some advertisements initially, but do your best to set up a solid profile and they'll go away.

It worked for 2 weeks, then it just stopped receiving WiFi. No Hulu, no Netflix. Everything else connected to WiFi works fine, it's just this TV. I restarted the modem, tried changing the settings on TV, finally resetting it, but none of that worked. According to one result on Google, I may have to download Samsung firmware(almost 1GB) to fix this via thumbdrive. Unless your hobby is to troubleshoot something like this, I would recommend going with another TV. Now we got that out of the way, I think the picture's pretty good. For films, you may have to go into "Expert Setting" to turn off Auto Motion Plus. Otherwise, picture quality looks too sharp & shiny like BBC or documentary films. Sound quality is terrible. Nothing new there on flat panel TVs, they are all like that. I'm not a fan of the connection panel at the back of the TV. HDMI plugs(only two available) were so close together, I couldn't connect Amazon Fire Stick(large diameter). I didn't mind this that much until my Samsung TV WiFi decided to stop working. I could have used Amazon Fire Stick to watch Netflix/Hulu. For me personally, remote is hard to use. Directional buttons(up/down/left/right) are sloped down toward the "enter" button in the center & it feels really awkward to use for me. Other than the WiFi going out completely, no major issues. For the price, I was happy to get this TV with 120Hz for under $300 on Black Friday. I already threw away the box, so I can't return it. I hope this 1GB firmware will remedy my WiFi, but I have to go out & buy a thumbdrive first, since the WiFi is dead.

Okay TV - Buggy Software - Bad customer support

This was my first Samsung product ever. Having always heard all the hype about their phones and electronics, I decided to give the TV a trial. The reviews on Bestbuy and other sites like Amazon, Target seemed positive on average. The price seemed good. And I knew if I didn't like it, I have Bestbuy's Holiday Extended Return to fall back on. So here are the pros and cons from a first-time Samsung customer. Pros: Unboxing was easy, no wild surprises. Set-up was easy, except for the part involving my newly created Samsung account but more on that in the Cons. Navigating the Settings was easy as the menus are simple, intuitive and user-friendly (something I truly value when it comes to electronics). Many popular streaming apps are also pre-installed, including Netflix, HBO, Vudu, Hulu, etc. I know many here have complained about bloatware, but I don't see the pre-installed apps that way, but it's just me. Sound and picture qualities are nice, not top tier but can't complain given the price. Cons: 1. Limited HDMI ports, 2 to be precise. Might work for someone who doesn't plan on plugging in too many devices at the same time, but then again you know (or should know) this ahead of buying as it's in the Specs description. 2. Processor appears to choke rather often if you press the remote buttons a bit too fast for its liking. Software also seems buggy when I tried to sync the TV with the SmartThings app. Even as simple as signing into the app from my phone or my Samsung account from the TV seemed buggy as it kept giving me error messages about incorrect ID or password. After 5+ times, quite obvious problem lies with Samsung' servers and software. 3. And now, my biggest thumb-down for this TV and Samsung. I simply can't register it with Samsung! Potential buyers should know the only way one can register with Samsung is through their website with the Serial Number (S/N) one gets from the back of the TVs. I tried that, many times until I gave up and it still gave the same error message: "The S/N is either invalid, incorrect, or the TV is more than 3 years old, or the TV was purchased outside the US." Samsung customer support is no help here either. After spending hours with them being routed through multiple departments, they did not and were not able fix the problem. Wow, how hard is it to fix something so minor in the database! One representative even told me that register the TV doesn't really do much except for some trivial benefits! Hmm then why does Samsung website list a requirement for a customer to exercise the warranty is a registration of the product? Even more intriguing is the fact that the morning after my struggle with Samsung, I logged into my Samsung account and discovered a product with a different model number has been registered to my account. Under it, the status of its warranty: "Unknown." To sum up: before buying this TV, ask yourself how important a warranty is to you. What if in a month or so, the TV stops talking your WiFi router and you can't stream anymore? In my brief experience with Samsung, this TV is going back to Bestbuy, quickly, together with any future Samsung purchases. Not worth the risk!

Let's start with the good: the TV powers on, the screen displays beautiful color which is sometimes bolstered by a table lamp. The bad: It's like dating. You'll start off and everything will be great, you'll be shocked at how easy and smooth things are going. You'll find yourself having a great time, watching your favorite shows, then slowly the wifi will drop every once in a while. Then it won't find the network at all. You'll be confused. Things were so great! What could have happened?! You'll restart dozens of times until one day you'll get a message "WiFi is turned off". It's the kiss of death, it'll make you miserable and you'll reconsider watching TV altogether. You'll find yourself scouring the internet trying to find help to resolve it and you'll come across so many people with the same issues. It's not you, it's the TV. The resolutions are ridiculous and sometimes work, if you're lucky. For instance, common resolutions are to turn off the quick start or change the LG service country temporarily (to any other arbitrary country), restart the TV, then revert back to your original country. If you happen to have my luck, these inane fixes will not work and you'll be sitting sad on the couch, chilling without Netflix. * I bought an open-box because clearly I don't know how to pick 'em

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung 43” NU6900 4K Smart TV. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing WiFi connection issues.

Your router location and distance from the TV are important considerations -- having them both on the same floor with minimal interference blocking the signal (like a wall, etc.) will improve connection. You may also want to try wired LAN, if possible, since the connection will be faster and more reliable.

    Good entry level 4k HDR

Picture is very good, especially with HDR content. On 4k UHD it can be difficult to see a comparison with 1080p for a screen this size (43 inches). Remember when it comes to 4k UHD bigger is better. That being said some of the picture settings need fine tuned to not look over exposed or too bright. But, after a little fidgeting I was able to get a more than acceptable picture. This doesn't bother me due to my experience but may annoy someone with less video tech experience. Sound is about on par for a TV of this price and is perfectly adequate for normal TV watching. If you want to get a good movie or game experience consider hooking it up to a good home theater system with a subwoofer, as the bass is severely lacking. I also noticed a rather large variation in volume at times when commercials would come on causing me to scramble for the volume button on the remote. Speaking of the remote... It seems Samsung has spent little time refining their remotes over the past 6 or 7 years as the one included is visually identical to my previous 1080p Samsung 39 inch model. Where I would like to see them improve is to ditch the IR style remote and progress toward RF for ALL of their TV lines. It can't be all that expensive to do since both of my inexpensive streaming modules include RF remotes. And speaking of streaming. The included streaming apps were just as fast and responsive as the ones included on my Fire TV Stick 4k. Kudos to Samsung for that as many other TV's and smart HT devices seem to struggle with it. Overall, this was a very good purchase for me and my family especially for the price I purchased it at (well under $300). It's far from perfect but it does the job exceedingly well for it's price point.

It was very easy to set up, though I'm not into Hulu and things like that, I was able to bypass those options, get the tv up and running within about 15 minutes, that includes the time spent putting the feet on. Works great, nice picture. One thing I do love about it is the fact that when I want to watch DVD's, I simply have to turn on the player and the tv automatically switches to the correct input where with my old one, I had to go through the input feature and locate the correct site... the only other thing I had a problem with was the fact that the feet are so far apart, I actually brought home the wrong tv, I had measured distance between the feet because my stand was only 30 inches wide, this was just a liitle wider so I had to buy a new stand as well. I do wish there was a better selection of tv's that had stands instead of feet, the tv's are so wide now that they don't fit on the stands people have. I have an old house with plaster walls and would be afraid to mount this on the wall.. not because of the weight, but there has always been difficulty even hanging pictures, the plaster chips and cracks. I would recommend this tv to anyone however, I am very happy with it over all!!

Just bought a few days before the black Friday shopping blitz. Wanted Samsung product as the quality seems to be good. My previous Samsung only lasted about 6 years, so that is NOT so great in my eyes. So far the T.V. is good with no issues as of yet. The legs are plastic and NOT the quality that Samsung previously manufactured several years ago with Glass heavy duty bases in the MIDDLE of the T.V. . The configuration now forces you to have a wide tabletop/platform to place the T.V. on as the legs are located only a few inches in from the outermost portion of the screen itself. That is POOR thinking on the part of Samsung. Like all other manufactures, they are looking to cut costs and NOT worried about the end-user. I'd pay more $ for a T.V. with a heavy duty glass base that is located in the very center of the bottom of the T.V. Sure hope this one lasts longer than my previous Samsung T.V. . Did not buy an extended warranty as that is usually a way to get more $ out of your pocket and into the stores pocketbook. So far the pricing advertised is the same a what I paid for the T.V. which was on sale when purchased. This T.V. only has two HDMI ports instead of four on my previous set. This current set has no RCA type data ports for connecting old style home theatre systems or old style VCR's. I guess that is another trap to get you to buy all new products of everything imaginable in order for the stores to make more money. What a shame!

Over the past week I have tried the TCL 5 series with Roku, the LG UK6090 and finally this one. The picture is slightly better than the LG and the SmartTV interface is well done. The picture clarity, refresh rate, brightness and the blacks are stunning, for this price range. The TV provides a number of web based channels that are not bad but the LGs selection is better. The sound is great but could use a little more bass. For my bedroom, the sound is more than adequate. I would recommend a sound bar I a larger room. Now, after returning the TCL I realized that as a longtime Roku I just needed to pickup a 4K Roku stick. ThisTV was my original choice but the 2 HDMI ports made me go with the LG but after trying out all 3 this is the one that won out. I am surprised that Samsung skimped on a 3rd port. Not a good move. I noticed a lot of people opting for the LG for that reason. My only gripe is the remote. The Exit buttons placement is terrible. During setup you are using the navigation arrows and the Exit buttons placement caused me to accidentally hit it after entering a lot of text. Oh, this does integrate with the new SmartThings app and slows you to control your TV from your mobile device.

I bought this for use as a computer monitor and it's working great. I calibrated it for photo work and the color was really good before the calibration. Ths black levels are also really good too. With dim lights on in the room, this TV looks totally black (when there are blacks) but in a totally dark room, the screen is not completely dark. That said, It would have to be dark enough that you can't see your keyboard or mouse to see that the screen is not completely black. Anyway,it does fade if you're not right in front of it, but that's not an issue for my use. Also I can get right up close the screen and it always looks clear. When watching 4k video, it's amazing!!!! For the money, I am completely happy with thisTV/Monitor. BTW, when I print to the printer, the print exactly matches what I see on the screen. That tells me that the color on the TV is close enough to perfect. After calibration, the software reported a 99.7% accuracy to srgb color gamut. It doesn't get much better than that. So... As a computer monitor used for general use and photo editing, I highly recommend this as a low cost alternative to a normal computer monitor. Is 43 inches too big for a computer monitor? Nope!

This purchase was an open box buy that didn't need anything crazy. The deal on this 4K model was going to suite perfect mounted on the wall. After getting the system set up with a ChromeCast (which frankly wasn't really necessary) I was surprised with the depth of options in the user interface. The primary content for this device is through the Directv Now service which is included in a beta form out of the box. Updating and connecting this TV was simple, but I will warn it was only 2.4 GHz so luckily I was close enough to just run an Ethernet cable for faster throughput. I love that content streamed on the ChromeCast will cause the TV to automatically switch to that device. The only areas I can fault this TV is just the speed of the operating environment for loading things like the Directv Now app or YouTube, which is sort of expected with a built in TV app. The menu takes a quick minute to get used to. This TV also suffers from an item that many other Smart TVs exhibit, and that is setting Over-the-Air stations. Say the station does not come in relatively well, it is near impossible to manually enter it into the list of set channels. In summary, I didn't ask for much out of this TV but it is quickly becoming my favorite interface in the house.

Firstly I upgraded from an old 720p Vizio. The first thing I noticed upon playing my Xbox was that there was a noticeable blur around any objects moving. Like when you look at a hot surface under the sun and it looks wavy. I messed with a bunch of settings and ultimately also decided the native sharpness didn’t do the visuals any favors so I turned it down. This blur persisted. I fiddled with the motion settings to no avail. Some words also were blurry. Ultimately it looked better on my old Vizio. So I figured perhaps this was an issue of the visuals scaling up from 1080 on the Xbox. So I went to watch Planet Earth in 4K on Netflix and while images looked great up close there was still a blur around objects which worsened when in motion. Nothing on the internet seems to be able to explain this issue. Sadly I think I may be returning the TV tomorrow which sucks because I was very excited about finally getting a new tv and at what seemed like a great price.

    Worst TV Ever

I've owned dozens of TVs in my life and have never hated a tv until I purchased this one. Why? 1) The picture via wifi was 'jumpy' and would cut out constantly. I had to connect Roku to tv to solve this problem. With Roku the picture was smooth. I have outstanding wifi so the issue was the tv, not my wifi. . . 2) Worst remote ever. Poorly laid out and all buttons are the same size. You must turn on a light and look at remote to use it. Other remotes I have I can use simply by feel and they are intuitive. Again, by using Roku remote I was able to solve this problem. 3) Bloatware! Hope you like Hulu and a tv that is constantly advertising to you. Can't delete unwanted apps and they are front and center so you can't even move them to the bottom of the list. This if fine if the tv was free, but I could have paid the same price for a better tv that doesn't do this had I known. Shame on you Samsung.

I was so excited to finally upgrade my tv for a bigger screen and better picture. Set up was easy enough, picture looked great and I was pleased. The remote is maddening! It just doesn’t make any sense and i consider myself fairly intelligent. If it had not been for the decent picture quality, I would’ve packed it up and brought it back immediately. First, I tried to watch the spectrum app. Within 20 minutes into a show the tv had gone back to the home screen on it’s own 4 times! Do you know how annoying it is to have to restart the app, navigate to what you were watching and resume? I gave up and tried netflix, same issues during a movie. Read a book instead. Yesterday I decided to connect the tv to the router directly with an ethernet cable, thinking it may be a wifi issue. Nope, not the problem. It’s like the tv has a mind of it’s own and does whatever it feels like! I am Going to try the update and see if that resolves the issues, otherwise, it’s going back.

Bought this one open-box, supposedly inspected and certified excellent by Geek Squad. Got it home, all parts, manual, etc., were present. Relatively easy setup, with a short learning curve. Picture was nice, but sound was poor. Fuzz and distortion in the audio to varying degrees, sometimes better, sometimes worse, but always readily noticeable and annoying. I'm not an audiophile, I'm not demanding; I just want to hear sound clear enough to understand, that won't make me grind my teeth to hear it. I'm in the process of trying to resolve the problem. If Customer Service / Geek Squad makes it right, I'm ok with that. This is my first time at Best Buy and with Samsung, so I have no previous frame of reference; but my old, smaller 32" Sony looked and sounded great with the same input signal source right up until it softly went >pop!< and died. But based solely on this initial (and yet to be finished) experience, I would not recommend this Samsung TV.

Purchased this TV on Black Friday and picked it up the following day. We took it home and started setting it up. The picture was nice and clear and the set up was quick. However -- just as we were settling into some Jeopardy on Netflix -- the TV's screen turned black and then turned itself off and on. This happened 5 times in the next 10 minutes, while I was on the phone with Samsung. The Samsung CS person said to take it back and exchange it for another one, not even trying to help us trouble shoot. Now, I wouldn't give the TV a 1-star for an unlucky defective product ...but when we took it back to Best Buy, we saw SIX OTHER PEOPLE returning the same exact TV (specifically the 43 inch one). Samsung is making a cheaper product and there are serious issues with it. We exchanged it for the 43 in. LG and it seems to be working well.

    Great Visual Quality. Couple Downsides

The quality is great. In fact, my previous XBOX One was struggling to put out visuals that matched the capabilities of the TV and it was causing some strange effects. I went ahead and upgraded when the X was on sale during Black Friday and found that fixed the issue and now I can't look at games on 1080 without noticing the difference in quality. All of the video apps through the smartTV look fantastic, but this is where one of my two gripes comes in. Every two-three viewing cycles (having the TV on/off) I have to "restart" the TV by holding the power button because apps will no longer play video. It's an annoying occurrence. The Hulu app is the worst and I know when the actual free TV streaming service native to the TV doesn't play video that all other apps will be lost causes. Because it's such a troubling issue I have to dock it a full star. The other issue and one that seems more common is the audio. It isn't bad but in bass heavy moments at high volume, you get some buzzing. I would hope a 4K smartTV from such a popular company would come equipped with a more well-rounded audio output but that's not the case. The nearly 10-year-old Vizio that I put in storage still put out excellent audio. Recommend a soundbar.

great picture at a price; that is, navigation and use of the remote is extremely tedious at best and functions are slow even with a good and high speed connection. Apps frequently do not work and TV must be unplugged and allowed to reload/start up again to function. there's an option to delete preloaded apps; don't waste time; they return as if by magic eventually. First TV returned as it outgassed an odor burning eyes, throat. Best Buy fantastic executing the exchange by mail! Second TV still emits a faint odor. Samsung customer service is absolutely deplorable and can not be depended on. There are several choices in setting up how the TV sounds; they all sound a little muffled. I've only owned Samsung for years so my criticism may be unfair as other brands may be the same. However, between the frightening odor that made me ill and the lack of Samsung customer service, this will be my last Samsung product and I cannot in good faith recommend it regardless to the beautiful picture.
