“Will this fit on a smaller sized desk than the tv size? I know its 43 inch but it looks like the stand isn't at the edges. Please help”

The legs are 36 in apart. I found a 40 inch 2 x 10 in the basement, wrapped it in an old baby blanket and stapled the seams. Set it on top of a nightstand and boom.
