“Is it normal to have to turn up the sound to above 60 just to hear it? I have tried different setting but still no luck. This is very disappointing.”

Yup, the speakers on this set are pretty weak. I strongly recommend outputting your audio to an external speakers (via digital optical out). Then you can get multi-channel audio from all of those Netflix and Disney Channel programs.
