There has to be something in the operation system that makes it to try to load an update or make some other server round trips. When we connected it to the i-net for the first time (Xfinity, 110 Mbps) widgets from the Smart Hub loaded in about 3 sec. We immediately reconfigured it NOT to automatically update itself (still ver. 1027), but after only three days widgets are loading in one minute. It takes about 5 -7 sec to load Smart Hub interface and 50 more seconds to load any widget. I assume this could also be a memory cashing issue of some sort, but not exactly sure.
