I have had issues mirroring to the tv too (streaming off a phone). There is a few Apple apps that allow you to Cast video to the tv. I friend had a android smart phone and had better apps avail and could stream easier than my apple phone. If your not referring to Mirroring or casting, just streaming, You could try to find a app on the TV that has your content you want to watch live, hmm, not sure but would youtube be an option for you? I realize it wouldn't be live but sightly old is better than nothing. I dont think this problem your having is related to any missing feature of the tv, just what your trying to do may not be doable.
