It does have a remote but it looks like an attempt to copy the apple remote my family is divided on it. You use the remote to change the settings on the tv such as HDR and contrast. It has built in apps such as Netflix amazon YouTube and many others like Pandora. I prefer to use my own streaming box just be sure to have a good Internet connection or a lan connection.
