“The Best Buy specification page for Samsung Model: UN49KS8500FXZA states that this unit does NOT have a Digital Optical Audio output, but other sites, including Samsung's say it does. Which is correct?”

The TV itself does not, but the Samsung One Connect box that is included does.

Yes it does, its located on your "One Connect" that comes with the TV. Glad to help.

It does have one on the hub connector that attaches to the TV. The hub has one cable that attaches to the TV and provides HDMI and digital optical connections. There do not seem to be any analog connections on the hub, just HDMI and optical.
