“I'm curious why the washer control panel appears to be able to switch between washer and dryer. Can both appliances be controlled by either machine? Or does the washer have a dry cycle?”

• I'm so glad you asked! The matching dryer can be operated from the washer when units are stacked using DV-MCK accessory (sold separately). ^Jecca

• I’ll add that with the same accessory, you can connect them when side by side, as well.

• It’s for stacking. You can control the dryer panel from the washer when you add the control cable Samsung sells.
