I installed this for a customer, so I am going by memory. I believe the power cable is about 6'. Keep in mind it has a high voltage converter in the middle of the cable. I usually plug it into the power behind the TV that is hanging on the wall. The small end of the cable can be fished in the wall and plugged into the SB. I think the display goes out after a few seconds. If it stays on, I didn't notice it. I doubt it's distracting. Great sound bar. My customer was very happy with the upgrade.
