We have used both Bluetooth and the optical cable connections successfully with this sound bar. We prefer the optical connection because it allows the TV to use both the TV speakers and the sound bar to provide better sound. Note, you need to purchase an optical cable if that is the option you choose. The sound bar documentation is good with respect to using either of these options.
