“Can I put a restriction on the water evacuation hose to reduce the amount of water going to the drain line as my drain line is small. I don't want the water to over flow and i don't want it to damage the pump in the machine.”

You cannot put a restriction on the water coming or going to your washer nor drain. Your washer uses so much water and spits it out fast that’s why there called water efficient. Your drain should a least be 2” or bigger
