• Hello Milerd, the steam cycle uses a higher water temperature to better sanitize the load, it does not require a special hookup. ^Britt

• It allows u to use steam cycle, there is addtl hookup piece that is used with the regular water hookup that attaches to machine and dryer for the steam cycle also. It is part of the package when u purchase the machine and dryer.
