Hi, the self-cleaning oven uses high temperatures (well above cooking temperatures) to burn off leftover grease and residue completely or reduce them to a finely powdered ash that can be wiped away with a damp cloth. The cycle can be done in 2, 3, or 4 hours. ^Rosi
