The fan is on the whole time that the oven is on, preheat and cooling also. This is a new feature for me, I never had the fan going when the oven is on! I imagine it is supposed to do that! The air comes from the back of the stove because when I have the oven on and have some burners on the air blows the flame from the burners so I use the front burners and put a pan in the way behind the burners I am using, so the flame does not blow around.

Please try again later.The fan in the unit runs only when using the oven, the "exhaust" comes out on top of the stove at the very back (under black grates), there is also a vent located there where heat comes out (like most ovens) You will hear the fan, but it's not very loud.

Please try again later.Unlike the Electric Ranges with ceramic glass cook tops, the NX58H9500WS and other Gas Ranges do not have internal fans that cycle on to help cool the internal mechanism for the cook top. The convection fan in both gas and electric models does cycle on periodically when pre-heating the oven and to circulate hot air and maintain the temperature when convection modes are selected. The other sound you may hear with the Gas Range is the air as it mixes with the pressurized natural or propane gas when the burners are turned on. Thanks for the question, Ms. Samsung
