The TV is 50" on the diagonal, so it's a few inches shorter than that across. It fits in my 55" space just fine. I would say that it is about 45" wide. I'm not home to measure it right now, but that's a pretty accurate guess. The stand for this TV is 9" wide (from front of the TV to back). That was our question too and the specs are not listed on the box or online. We took it out of the box and measured it before we bought it. It fits perfectly on my fireplace mantle. I would say that the stand is approximately 12" long, but that is usually not an issue because the TV is longer. The stand balances the TV just fine; sturdy and strong.
