“My tv seems to have some plastic film or screen protector on it. Not sure if I should peel it off or if it should stay on. My only concern is if it would affect the picture much. Also don't want to mess it up.”

Leave it on until you set it up and place it! Then yes you can take it off..peeling it won’t damage tv but do it slowly
