“Hi. Best Buy lists this TV as having "Edge Lit" LED. The older model of this same TV was "Direct Lit". I thought Direct Lit was superior, so it would be surprising if the newer version got rid of it. Am I understanding the specs correctly?”

Hi EddieG! Both Edge Lighting and Direct Lighting are capable of producing an image very similar in quality. The AU8000 features edge lighting technology allowing us to provide a slim design while maintaining impressive contrast levels. The superior form of LED backlighting is Direct Full Array, which can be found on our premium QLED models Q80A and above. ^Tim
