Hi RayMN! Thank you for inquiring about the 50" AU8000 Crystal UHD TV. Please know, the stand width listed in the description is not referring to the distance between the legs, rather the total width of each leg. Each leg for the 50" AU8000 is 1.6" in width and are spaced 30.1" apart. ^Tim
