• The higher the contrast ratio equals the bigger the difference between the TV's whitest white and darkest black. Basically gives you more shades.

• Samsung no longer measures the contrast ratio, as new panels exceed colors in the millions. For early LCDs, this was a good measuring tool, but we no longer measure this specification. Thanks for your interest in Samsung products. --Mr. S
