This depends on what you are watching. Lets say, you are watching live tv local news, if they are not using HD like resolution cameras for their tv show then no, you won't get the best picture quality. It's not the TV that's broken. If however, you are watching from a blue-ray DVD player and watching new movies like Jurassic World for example, then you can really see a huge difference in picture and sound quality. Very movie like, I swear. I hope this help.
