It's true. The KU series TVs do not meet the new Ultra HD Premium standards agreed upon by television manufacturers (notice they just say "HDR Premium"). The new standard sets must have a wide color gamut and peak brightness over 1000 nits, among other things. None of the cheaper models of any manufacturer meet this standard. Like Samsung's budget 4k TVs, they just map the HDR signal to match the lower capabilities of these televisions. Usually that means the TV will max out it's setting for the brightest, colorful picture it's capable of. The good news is that these new lower cost sets are brighter, clearer, and have better color accuracy than the cheap sets from a year or so ago. The new Ultra HD Premium TVs need actual HDR content to really shine anyway, just like 4k TVs need actual 4k to look better than 1080p.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I see no difference except the other costs more! None of the movies from past will be UHD unless they were formatted that way? And as the times change shows and movies will be in UHD. Also if your TV provider has channelsthst are not HD then you will not get a HD picture or sound. Our cable provider has a lot of channels that aren't HD but most major channels are. Buy this one. Unless you have $$$$ you don't need then buy the most expensive ! But I see or hear no difference. I was told the SAME thing by a knowledgeable BB rep:(
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Here's what I learned from a Samsung chat representative: Joshua: Hi, thanks for reaching out to Samsung pre-sales support. We appreciate your interest in Samsung products. How may I assist you today? Visitor: Hi! Does this model really have HDR? Visitor: UN55KU6300FXZA Joshua: Yes, it has HDR premium which is HDR 7000. Joshua: It doesn't have HDR 1000. Visitor: what is that difference? Joshua: The HDR 1000 is the full version of HDR and it has the effective bright picture with 1000 Nits. Joshua: The HDR premium has less brightness and comes with 700 Nits. Joshua: Shall I assist you with any other questions? Visitor: So if even if I buy an Xbox OneS, 4K Blu-ray movie, all of the right HDR capable cables, etc. I still won't get true HDR quality with this TV model correct? Joshua: Yes, you are correct. Joshua: You need to go with our KS series TVs. Joshua: You need to check the KS 8 and 9 series TVs for true HDR quality. Visitor: Okay, thank you!
