I'll answer my own question for anyone else who needs it: you have to disable samsung's "TV+" app to get the TV to stop auto-playing random channels. now the TV tries to start on a cable channel, but since we dont have cable, it just gives me an error message and i hit the home button to get to my apps. i shouldnt have to do that. for this price and samsung's reputation, this TV should have a user interface that works. this is stupid.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I can’t quite bypass that function either. Usually Ion starts playing and I have never even watched it. It’s really annoying. But I heard it’s problematic as far as Samsung‘s go-i’ve only had mine for less than a month but I went to head and got a Roku with voice control. As I normally just watch my normal cable, Hulu, HBO Max, Disney+, Netflix, and AMC and Prime. And I just have a go to Roku and I don’t have a problem. I’m sure if you prefer fire stick you could do that as well.
