“Hello can this tv be connected to an external DVD player, or and old VCR unit, if so what type or cords do I need. Just bought and doesn't look like I can do thus. Help”

It doesn't appear so. I had older devices as well that will no longer work with the newer technology in these Smart TVs. Everything now days is operates on bluetooth which is internet based and needs no cables. There may be interfaces out there that allow for wired devices, but that is all above my pay grade.
