It depends. Does your fireplace have glass doors to ensure fire can’t escape the fire box? How far above the top of the fire box or fireplace will you mount your TV? Assuming you have a door covering the opening of your fireplace and that you mount the TV at least 3-4 feet above top of fireplace opening, you should be OK. Easy way to check: when the fireplace is lit, run your hand around the area where you plan to mount your TV. Is it noticeably warmer, particularly where the bottom area of the screen will be? If so, you may have a problem. If this area is room temperature, you should be good to go.

BUT I did not have a "mantle" above the fireplace, therefore they would not hook it up. So to answer your question, IF U do have a mantle above the fireplace opening U should be OK.
