The sound is usually adequate, but there are times (such as when an air conditioner is running) that I would like it louder than it can go. If you get a sound bar, DON'T get a cheap one because they aren't even as loud as this television. My solution was to connect the audio from the cable box to my stereo input for those occasions where I need more than the television can deliver.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The sound is very good. No need for sound bar but I may use once in a while.

It throws the volume out to your sitting area vs. down from the TV speakers. You'll enjoy movies better and TV shows with voice seem crisper. Also a soundbar tends to mellow out those really loud commercials in between shows and gives a better balance overall. It turns on and off seamlessly with the TV and installation was quick and easy. Note: On our other larger Samsung TV we bought a higher end Samsung soundbar and it is great for a large room and we love it. So if you have a large room, spring for the Samsung - Sound+ 5.0-Channel Soundbar HDR & 4K Supported. It works great in a large room.

Better TV models, including this one, have improved speaker and sound quality compared to flat screens of several years ago. The question of whether you want a sound bar is something you need to decide based on your perception of the sound quality produced by the TV itself with programming that you like to watch (live sports versus network TV, for example). If you like the television, use it for a month without a sound bar. If you find that you want a more immersive sound experience, you can always add a sound bar later on.
