“the TV didn't come with the spacers for wall mounting, even though they are pictured in the manual and are shown fitting into the screw holes. Are they necessary? Can't find anyplace, including Samsung website, where they can be purchased.”

They come with the wall mount kit !
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had some spacers from the wall mount kit I used. I used them because the plastic on the back seems thin and needs the support. I did not get the Samsung mount but most good kits will come with what you need.
