It is solar powered, just flip it over and you will see the solar cell/panel on back. It also has the ability to charge via usb-c on bottom, cable not provided by Samsung though. Hope this helps.

You can charge the solar cell by leaving the back of the remote facing up. It will charge with either sunlight or indoor light. If you use the USB-C port, a red light will let you know that it is charging. The USB-C cable is not included. ^Gina
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.On the back side of the remote is a solar panel to charge the remote or you can charge it with a type cord and charger. One thing that I don't like is that the remote does not have a back light. Hard to see the keys in a dark room.
