How do you hook up a headphone null

Most tv headphones have an red and white plug or 3.5mm or 1/4 plug. If you have it hooked up to an home theater receiver hdmi from the tv to stereo, hooked up the headpone jack on the stereo. I use it that what using a sennheiser rs/120. In my bedroom I use optical out from the tv then use an optical to analog adapter to hook up my second pair of sennhesier rs/120. I love the fact that the sennheiser rs/120 takes aaa batteries. I use rechargeable aaa batteries. They last at least `12 to 16 hours an charge.
