It does not have a down draft vent. The rear vents are for the oven.

The specifications for this product at bestbuy.com do indeed state that it "does not" have a downdraft vent. Also, reading the user manual, there is no mention of having one either. What I can tell you from actually using the stove is that it does have a "Cooling" vent in the back of the stove that expels hot air when it is on. The direction of this hot air is upward and toward the back of the stove. This means that you should have some sort of heat protection behind it. We actually bought a universal backsplash to prevent the wall from getting ruined by the heat.
