The right front cooking area has multiple circumference hot zones so one knob is used to adjust one of three burners. Because you can use the wrong setting there I recommend using the front left burner for boiling pasta and dont be afraid to use the HIGH setting which ppl typically avoid on electric coil burners. After you master the right front burner adjustments it gets easier... I also spent a half hour trying to cook mac' n cheese noodles until my wife showed me how to use the right front knob controls. Also make sure the pot is flat on the bottom (full contact with the glass) or it will always be a longer cooking time. Its okay for burner to cycle on/off so long as you have set max temp to HIGH. Otherwise a boilover would be likely. Top glass maintains a temp with thermostat control.
