Yes, it is called Auto Motion Plus and you can turn it on or off.

Yes it does have the soap opera effect and yes it can be turned off, by simply turning off the smooth motion.

Yes it does. Shows like sitcoms and movies sort of look like "live TV". There are different picture settings but I'm not sure if any of them really "turn off" that effect. I have left it alone as we watch a lot of sports and the default setting looks the best in my opinion.
