You're better off getting a 50-55" tv if you're only 8' away.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.A 60 inch should do you just fine being just 8-8.5 feet away. 65 may be too big for that close proximity
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We have this 60" TV and our seats are about 8-10 ft away (from our eyes). We love it. We can see all of the picture at the same time but we don't have to crane our necks to get the whole picture. Feels like we're at the theater. We have a 50" in our bedroom. It's sitting about 12-14 ft away (from our eyes) and we really like it too. It's a very fine display. Doesn't have that giant screen feel but we can see all the detail. It's really up to your personal taste, but maybe this will be enough to give you an idea. You can always go to the store, stand back to about where you'll be sitting (they have tape measures you can borrow), and see how you like each one. Of course lighting has a lot to do with how it feels.

There are distance calculators online but basically to get the full benefit from UHD content you need to sit at a distance range away from the 60" version of between 3'-11" - 7'-10" and approximately 4'-3 - 8'-6 for the 65" (meaning you can't sit any farther away than the top number. otherwise you won't see a difference between 1080p and UHD) Below is a link to an article that contains a distance calculation chart...hope this helps http://referencehometheater.com/2013/commentary/4k-calculator/
