It's best to always send the highest resolution signal to the TV from the source. 720 and higher will generally look really good. It's 420i/p where there's a lot of digital noise because the TV has to determine and assign colors to each pixel based on the incoming signal. --Mr. S

I really have a hard time seeing any difference between 720 and 1080 upscale results as both are very near 4K quality. Even the old MASH programs in standard 480 upscales very well.. Not 4K but much improved.. Looks great on this TV
