I honestly just connected my wifi to the TV, no antenna. That gave me access to Samsung TV Plus for free which is equivalent to basic cable I feel! A bunch of app options/subscription offers are available in the TV from factory (Amazon Prime, Hulu, Spotify Netflix, and a bunch of others). So in short, if your a simple person when it comes to tv, just connecting your wifi to TV offers a lot of free options for shows and movies (some require just registering with that app)
