“I want to know if the TV will be fine on top of a TV stand. There are no pets or children at home. Do I need to secure it with straps? In the picture the legs seem short, I just wonder if my TV will be safe.”

It can be placed on a wider, longer tv stand. I felt it just takes lot of space on a stand which otherwise could be used for apple accessories associated with TV. And due to its size and any slight disturbances may be when we clean or so can be risky
