No, the frame edge is not lite nor does it have a back light. I bought mine with the wood rim kit so it looks like a framed picture. This is a must. I really dont think you need an edge lite because the picture mood is an illuminate image. You can adjust the brightness of the image. Hope that helps. It's a great tv!
