Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yeah, I think the answer to both are yes. For DirectTV, I'd check with DirectTV to see if they have a way to control a TV using the DirectTV remote. My TiVo does, so I assume DirectTV does too. As for using a replacement remote, that's possible. Samsung is always compatible with most universal remotes.
