“The display lights flash on and off. When the dryer is on normal and drying process those two lights blink continuously. is this normal for this machine? Will this put more wear and tear on the machine?”

That is completely normal. It seems a little backward, but the drying, cooling and end lights all stay on. The blinking light is to show what cycle the dryer is in.
